King George 'V' Park, Wordsley, Stourbridge, West Midlands:
The Masterplan for King George 'V' Park, Wordsley also known as Wordsley Park was prepared as part of the ODPM's 'Liveability' Initiative. Greenway LA Ltd trading as Greenway Landscape Architects was commissioned by Dudley MBC and the scheme overall costing was £752,100.00.
The first phase of the scheme has recently been awarded and will be completed by Summer 2006, which includes facilities for the local youths including a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), Teenage Shelter, 'Chill Out' Area and circulation paths. The Phase 1 budget was £132,000.00.
Registration Garden, County Hall, Worcester:
Worcestershire County Council commissioned Greenway Landscape Architects to deliver the new external space for the relocation of the Registrar's Office and included the garden and main entrance to County Hall at Spetchley Road, Worcester.
The works included ramp access complying with Disability & Discrimination Act regulations (DDA regs), whilst the garden areas provided a designed backdrop for wedding group photographs.
The concept incorporated bespoke artwork designed by Richard Greenway and made by a local artist blacksmith (James Stark) inspired by the species found in the adjacent ancient woodland.
Raised beds with shrub and perennial planting have been formed using recycled plastic profile boards as part of the practices sustainable philosophy.
The scheme was built to a tight timescale as the 'Skills on Show' event on 8th July 2005 was held the day after Practical Completion and the program was only six weeks. The capital cost was approximately £46,000.00.
Worcester Sixth Form College, Spetchley Road, Worcester:
The external space was designed to create a dynamic student space to improve the Campus's appearance after winning the commission in a competitive bid judged by the Principal and Governors of the College.
The scheme provides an outdoor space to augment the colleges facilities providing seating areas for studying and social interaction.
After value engineering the project the budget of £135,000.00 included the lighting design, softworks / planting, hardscape and fencing works all designed in house by Greenway Landscape Architects. A gazebo structure was also designed and built by an artist blacksmith using a recycled covered structure from a nearby commercial retail store purchased by the client.
